MEET ROBYN SINCLAIR
Robyn’s Sunshine Coast Is Closing — And This Is How I Want to Say Goodbye
There comes a point in life when you realise the things that matter most aren’t things at all.
They’re people.
Six years ago, I unlocked the door to this little shop for the very first time.
I had no idea then how much it would come to mean to me — or how many wonderful women would eventually walk through that door.
For thirty years before Robyn’s, I worked as a physiotherapist. I spent my days helping women feel comfortable and confident in their bodies.
When I eventually stepped away from physiotherapy, I wanted to create something of my own.
Something slower. Something beautiful.
And something that still allowed me to help women feel good about themselves.
That became Robyn’s Sunshine Coast.
And now, six years later, it’s time for me to say goodbye.
How It Started
For thirty years, physiotherapy was my life.
I met women at every stage of theirs.
Women recovering from injuries. Women learning to trust their bodies again. Women who had spent decades looking after children, husbands, parents and everyone else before finally making a little time for themselves.
Those years taught me something I never forgot:
Feeling comfortable in your own body can change the way you carry yourself through the world.
When I left physiotherapy, that thought stayed with me.
I’d always loved clothing, particularly those effortless pieces you can throw on and immediately feel good in.
Soft fabrics. Beautiful prints. Relaxed dresses. Linen that feels even better after you’ve lived in it.
So six years ago, I took a chance.
I found a little space here on the Sunshine Coast, turned the key in the door and opened Robyn’s.
I still remember that first morning.
I was excited.
Terrified.
And secretly wondering whether anyone would actually walk through the door.
Thankfully, you did.
What Six Years at Robyn’s Taught Me
I thought I was opening a clothing boutique.
What I ended up with was something much more personal.
You came in looking for a dress and stayed for a conversation.
You brought your sisters.
Your daughters.
Your friends.
Some of you came back season after season, and eventually I knew what you liked before you even reached the rack.
There were women who walked into the fitting room convinced something wouldn’t suit them.
Then they’d come out, look in the mirror and smile.
Those were always my favourite moments.
Because I never wanted Robyn’s to be about chasing trends or dressing like somebody else.
I wanted women to feel like themselves.
Comfortable.
Feminine.
Confident.
And completely at ease in what they were wearing.
Every piece I chose for this shop was chosen with that woman in mind.
And for six years, you trusted me to do it.
Then, Three Weeks Ago, Everything Changed
It was just after six in the morning when my phone rang.
Our daughter was calling from Perth.
I answered half asleep.
And then she said four words I’ll never forget.
“Mum. She’s here.”
Our granddaughter had arrived.
Suddenly Ian and I were staring at this tiny little face through a video call from the other side of Australia.
I wanted to reach through the screen and hold her.
And somewhere during that call, I think we both already knew.
It was time.
Time to stop saying, “We’ll visit soon.”
Time to stop measuring the distance between the Sunshine Coast and Perth.
Time to be grandparents properly.
To be there for the ordinary days, not only the holidays.
So after six beautiful years, I’ve made one of the hardest — and easiest — decisions of my life.
I’m closing Robyn’s Sunshine Coast.
Why I Know It’s Time
There’s nothing wrong with the business.
There was no dramatic moment.
No terrible ending.
Life simply gave us somewhere else we need to be.
For thirty years, I looked after patients.
For six years, I looked after this little shop and the women who came through its doors.
Now I want to spend my time with the people I love most.
Ian and I are ready for the next chapter.
And apparently that chapter involves a very tiny girl in Perth who already has her grandmother completely wrapped around her little finger.
I’m sad to close the doors.
But I’m incredibly lucky to be closing them for this reason.
My Final Collection
Before we leave, there’s one last thing I need to do.
Every dress, blouse and linen piece still hanging in Robyn’s needs to find a new home.
I don’t want to pack these pieces into boxes.
I want to imagine them being worn.
To Sunday lunches.
Beach walks.
Holidays.
Birthdays.
Or simply on those ordinary mornings when you put something on and think:
Yes. This feels like me.
So for my final farewell, I’ve reduced the remaining collection by up to 75%.
Not because these pieces suddenly mean less to me.
Quite the opposite.
I chose every one of them.
And before Robyn’s closes, I’d love to see them go to women who will actually wear and enjoy them.
The Robyn’s Final Farewell
Everything remaining is now up to 75% off.
Free shipping on every order.
Easy 30-day returns.
No complicated rules.
No pressure.
Just one final collection from the little Sunshine Coast boutique that has been such a big part of my life.
Once a size or style sells out, I won’t be restocking it.
When the final piece finds its home, that will be it.
To the Women Who Have Been Here From the Beginning
I don’t quite know how to thank you properly.
You supported a woman who decided after thirty years in physiotherapy that she wanted to try something completely different.
You walked through my door.
You came back.
You told your friends about me.
You trusted my recommendations.
You shared pieces of your lives with me while standing between clothing racks.
Some of you started as customers and somehow became friends.
Those are the things I’ll remember.
Not order numbers.
Not sales figures.
People.
Conversations.
Faces.
Six years of little moments that turned Robyn’s from a shop into something I genuinely loved waking up for.
Thank you.
I mean that more than you know.
And If You’ve Only Just Found Robyn’s…
Welcome.
Our timing might be a little unusual.
You’ve found my shop just as I’m preparing to close it.
But perhaps there’s something rather lovely about that too.
You still have the chance to own one of the final pieces I personally chose for Robyn’s.
Take your time.
Have a look through the collection.
And if something makes you stop scrolling for a second, perhaps trust that feeling.
That’s how I’ve always believed clothing should work.
Thirty Years. Six Years. And One Very Special Reason to Go.
Thirty years as a physiotherapist taught me how much confidence matters.
Six years at Robyn’s taught me how wonderful women can be when they support one another.
And one little girl in Perth reminded me that life doesn’t wait forever.
So this is my final collection.
My final sale.
And my final thank you.
Everything remaining is now up to 75% off, with free shipping on every order and easy 30-day returns.
When it’s gone, Robyn’s Sunshine Coast will close its doors for the final time.
And Ian and I will start packing for Perth.
I’m going to miss this little shop terribly.
But I think there’s a granddaughter waiting for a cuddle.
With all my love,
Robyn Sinclair
